About Meja

Meja Siberians was established in 1980, by Melanie and Jim Babb, who started training and showing Siberian Huskies in the late 70s. Meja continues on with Melanie and her husband of 25 years, Rick Schlaginhaufen and their son Eric.

Meja doesn't sell dogs, but are happy to answer, via email, any questions you have about Siberian Huskies. We are also glad to refer you to a reputable Siberian Husky rescue group if you wish to adopt, or to ethical breeders if you have serious interest in purchasing a puppy. Occasionally we also know of retired show dogs who need a loving home, which can be purchased from show or racing breeders for a reasonable adoption fee.

Keep in mind that any reputable rescue group or breeder will want to carefully match their dogs with the right "forever home" so don't be offended by being asked questions. If someone wishes to sell you a Siberian Husky without asking you for references and talking to you in depth about the breed, then they probably aren't the type of person who understands Siberian Huskies and the importance of placing them carefully to help insure they are in the right home. You want to deal with someone who has the best interests of the dog at heart.

With our website, we would like to educate anyone interested in this unique, beautiful, but certainly not-for-everyone breed of dog.

We hope you enjoy seeing photos of the dogs we have owned through the years, as well as updates on our current dogs and those owned by close friends .Some Siberian breeders have been friends for over three decades (we're showing our age, but we did get started in the breed when we were quite young!). But we also love having the opportunity to meet new friends who love dogs, of all varieties.

Please bookmark our site and check in often!

Many thanks to Penny Blankenship for setting up our site for us, and to Robin Broadway-Tuttle for the design of Meja's original website.
